On October 3, 2024, the Royal Navy launched the most advanced hunter-killer submarine, the future HMS Agamemnon in BAE Systems’ facility in Barrow.
The Portuguese Navy has tested a concept for an uncrewed, fully autonomous, self-sustaining sea-base. Referred to as an ‘island’, the floating facility can be used to support maritime uncrewed system operations, conduct test and evaluation of uncrewed systems capability and connectivity, and demonstrate concepts for offshore data processing and remote environmental assessment.
The French defense procurement agency (DGA) is to provide the French Navy with its first sovereign ultradeep-sea exploration and surveillance capability and has chosen Exail, a world leader in robotics, to supply a new AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) capable of operating at depths of up to 6,000 meters.
