Turkish defense giant Aselsan showcased its AHTAPOT 100 naval electro-optical surveillance and targeting system at the DIMDEX 2026 exhibition in Doha.

The AHTAPOT 100 is configured as a fully stabilized director integrating multiple sensors within a single unit. The system’s sensor suite includes a mid-wave infrared (MWIR) thermal imager, a high-definition color day camera, and an eye-safe laser rangefinder. Optional configurations can incorporate short-wave infrared (SWIR) or long-range spotter cameras depending on operational requirements. An optional laser designator is also available for fire control applications.

A key feature of the system is its modular line-replaceable unit (LRU) architecture, which enables sensor replacement during missions without requiring extensive maintenance downtime. This design approach is intended to maintain operational availability in extended deployments.

The system provides high-definition digital video output with continuous zoom capability and precision stabilization for target detection, identification, and tracking at extended ranges in both day and night conditions. Additional capabilities include automatic target detection, target geolocation, slave mode operation, and laser illumination.

Aselsan indicated that a next-generation variant of the AHTAPOT family is under development, incorporating artificial intelligence-based automatic target detection capabilities. Dubbed AHTAPOT 200, it is expected to be unveiled at IDEF 2027. The system is positioned for both Turkish naval programs and export markets, with the company emphasizing indigenous development and life-cycle support capabilities.

The AHTAPOT series is designed for installation on major surface combatants and other naval platforms requiring surveillance, reconnaissance, and fire control capabilities. Existing naval platforms or programs include the Anadolu LHD, Istanbul-class frigates, Ada-class corvettes, Hisar-class OPV, Gabya-class frigates, Kฤฑlฤฑรง-class FACs and the new MAC fast attack craft for Qatar.
