DSEI 2021: IAI Mini Harpy – a flexible solution for complex environment

Present on the IAI's booth at DSEI 2021 defence exhibition, the Mini Harpy is an original spin of the classical UAV, as a mix between a reconnaissance and a loitering drone...

This product is meant to address the increasingly complex environment in which navies find themselves, in the grey zones of conflicts where they need to repel provocations without risking further escalation.

Here, classical armements such as main guns or anti-ship missiles are seen as too strong of a response, and thus cannot be used, whereas autocannons lack a sufficient range.

It is here that the Mini Harpy strives. It presents itself as a 40 kg loitering drone with the longest autonomy and range of its category: 2 hours for 100km.

Lightweight, coming at only 400kg per launcher of 12, it can easily be integrated on any platform, even the smallest OPVs, as each Mini Harpy possesses its own IR and RF sensors, thus it does not require heavy radars to perform.

Able to do reconnaissance missions or, when needed, precision strikes, avoiding unnecessary casualties, but always keeping the man in the loop, it offers a perfect, flexible answer to the complex maritime environment.
