The Cube™ minelaying system is offering a new innovative modular system in cooperation with Finnish companies DA-Group, ATLAS ELEKTRONIK Finland, and FORCIT Group
The Cube™ Mine laying system consists of a minelaying module and one or more storage modules. 20’ combi launch module with 6-26 mines or as a storage module with up to 48 mines connected to a launch module.
The modular solution is tailor-made for semi-automatic and fully automatic handling and laying naval mines from all known brands. It is possible to lay different types of sea mines simultaneously.
Because of the 20-foot size corresponding with ISO containers, The Cube™ Mine laying system will fit any Naval, Coast Guard or Offshore Supply Vessel.
Here is our interview with SH Defence’s CEO during the event:
“This is a module that a lot of the Western World are looking for but also countries far away are looking to rebuild this capability and at this show we are showing it for real […] The one at DSEI was actually already acquired by a customer.”
René Bertelsen, SH Defence’s CEO.
MoU with ATLAS ELEKTRONIK Finland
During the event, SH Defence and ATLAS ELEKTRONIK Finland (AEFI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to co-operate and enhance modular minelaying capability for container-based minelaying. This co-operation is based on SH Defence’s modular mission concept, the Cube Mine Laying Modules, and AEFI’s Minelaying Planning and Execution System.
AEFI’s Minelaying Planning and Execution system is a proven and scalable system that gives operators tools to manage the complete minelaying operation from tactical minefield planning and mission guidance or control to minelaying crew, up to post-mission analysis and reporting. The companies can together provide a flexible and cost-saving modular solution to turn ships into mine laying platforms quickly and easily.
Kimmo Korhonen, Managing Director of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK Finland stated, “We are thrilled to deepen the co-operation with SH Defence as the two companies really complement each other. AEFI’s experience in delivering minelaying planning and execution software combined with SH Defence’s proven ability to design and engineer modular deployment systems enables us to jointly provide our customers with a complete new functional chain for modern minelaying – from tactical planning to precise deployment.”
Rene Bertelsen, CEO of SH Defence stated, “We at SH Defence are looking forward to enhance our relationship with ATLAS ELEKTRONIK Finland. We see this Atlas planning system as an important part of today’s mine laying capability and a perfect match for our Cube ecosystem. This combined solution will enable navies around the world to develop sea mines rapidly from many different platforms without rebuilding decks for traditionally rails.”
MoU with Northrop Grumman
In addition, SH Defence also signed a new collaboration agreement with Northrop Grumman to develop new multi-mission solutions to strengthen critical capabilities across naval operations. The collaboration builds on our global expertise across advanced control system and integration solutions for naval vessels.
Katharine Sealy, Managing Director, National Security Solutions, Northrop Grumman UK said: “There are a huge range of applications for the containerised solutions enabled by SH Defence’s ‘The Cube’ system, and all of these solutions share a similar requirement: integration. Everything needs power, and everything needs data. We are excited to work with SH Defence to explore how we can provide our customers with the same seamless integration they recognise from any other ship-board system, no matter the mission.”
