The warship isย overhauled byย the 13th shipyard inย Sevastopol. The Moskva isย prepared for docking, the sources said.

The overhaul is to be completed in the second quarter of 2020. Specific attention is paid to the main power plant, including gas turbine generators, reducing gear, fuel mechanisms, and gas conduits of the main gas turbines and other elements of the power plant.

Onย June 5, 2019, the cruiser for the first time sailed out since 2016 for trials ofย the power plant. The next sortie was planned inย December 2019, but was postponed. There isย noย talk soย far about aย large-scale upgrade ofย the Moskva byย Zvyozdochka Shipyard which modernized similar the Marshal Ustinov. There are noย funds and aย decision isย toย beย made later.

Anย informed source said the cruiser badly needs toย upgrade old systems. โ€œAย modern fire-fighting system isย necessary. The Navy proposed toย install itย onย the Marshal Ustinov yet inย 2011. The Moskva and the Varyag cruisers ofย the Atlant class are vulnerable inย fire safety,โ€ the source said.
