Russian, Iranian naval forces complete joint drills

Iran and Russia combined naval drill "Maritime Security Belt" in the northern part of the Indian Ocean.
A Baltic Fleet detachment composed of the Project 20380 corvette Stoiky (NATO reporting name: Steregushchy-class) and the tanker Kola has completed a joint Russian-Iranian naval exercise, the Russian Defense Ministryโ€™s press office said.

โ€œThe Russian-Iranian naval exercise took place in the Gulf of Oman and the northwestern part of the Indian Ocean,โ€ the press office said.

The Russian and Iranian sailors trained artillery live-firing against a surface target, signal exchange in the daytime and at night and joint maneuvering. They also practiced freeing a merchant ship seized by simulated pirates and extinguishing a notional fire onboard.

The Baltic Fleetโ€™s detachment continues its long-distance voyage and is sailing to the Omani port of Salalah.

The Baltic Fleetโ€™s detachment composed of the Stoiky corvette, the Kola medium seagoing tanker and the Yakov Grebelsky seagoing tug left Baltiysk on December 16, 2020 to start its long-distance voyage.
