“The Russian-Iranian naval exercise took place in the Gulf of Oman and the northwestern part of the Indian Ocean,” the press office said.
The Russian and Iranian sailors trained artillery live-firing against a surface target, signal exchange in the daytime and at night and joint maneuvering. They also practiced freeing a merchant ship seized by simulated pirates and extinguishing a notional fire onboard.
The Baltic Fleet’s detachment continues its long-distance voyage and is sailing to the Omani port of Salalah.
The Baltic Fleet’s detachment composed of the Stoiky corvette, the Kola medium seagoing tanker and the Yakov Grebelsky seagoing tug left Baltiysk on December 16, 2020 to start its long-distance voyage.
