The naval exercise Northern Coasts 2021 (NOCO21) is a recurring multinational exercise for NATO allies and Partnership for Peace (PfP) countries. This year's edition was conducted in the southern Baltic Sea, along the Swedish coast and around the islands of Öland and Gotland from 10 to 23 September.

Approximately 30 ships, some 10 aircrafts and just under 2.000 soldiers and sailors participated in this year’s exercise.

The following 15 nations were participating: Belgium, Canada, Denmark,  Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden and USA.

NOCO has been carried out in the Baltic Sea since year 2007. It is initiated by Germany but planned and conducted by partner countries. This year by the Swedish Navy. The exercise is designed to improve multinational interoperability of maritime forces.

As a multinational maritime exercise, NOCO21 aimed at strengthening the ability to combine national assets to effectively conduct combined maritime operations and thereby maintain stability and security in the immediate area.

NOCO21 gave participating units the possibility to practice in a widespread archipelago with shallow waters.
