As a national shipping industry, PT PAL Indonesia for the second time takes an important role in security in the ASEAN Region. This was marked by the first steel cutting in the construction of the first Landing Dock ship, as part of the export of two warships for the second time for the Philippine Navy. This event also marked the start of the fabrication process for the construction of the Landing Dock Philippines ship.
The event began with a presentation on the progress of the Philippines Landing Dock ship production process by Project Head Parnianto, and continued with a presentation on several state of the art PT PAL Indonesia products, namely the 60-meter Fast Missile Boat, Hospital Ship, and 163-meter Landing Platform Dock presented by SEVP TM Satriyo Bintoro. With the presence of the Flag Officer in Command Philippines Navy (FOIC) Vice Admiral Toribio D Adaci, along with other stakeholders, this momentum is increasingly important to enhance defense diplomacy between the two countries through the acquisition of defense technology.
CEO of PT PAL Indonesia, Kaharuddin Djenod sees this collaboration as Indonesia’s central role as part of ASEAN, in reducing geopolitical risks.

The implementation of the first steel cutting which was held at the Commercial Ship Division fabrication workshop, was marked by the pressing of a button by the CEO of PAL together with the FOIC Philippines Navy, as well as the signing of the silhouette of the Landing Dock Philippines (LDP) ship which was also witnessed by the Head of the LDP Project, Pangkoarmada II or his representative, and Chairman of the Philippines Navy Owner Representative (PNOR), as well as witnessed by the ranks of PT PAL Indonesia’s BoD and SEVP.
With an overall length of 124 meters, and a displacement of 7,200 tons, it can sail for up to 30 full days.
“The Philippines Landing Dock ship accommodates the needs of the Philippine Department of National Defense, with a few changes to the ship’s platform. Carrying 117 blocks in its production stage, this Philippines Landing Dock ship will have a sistership, which in the near future will also carry out the same stages. The contract for the construction of two units of Landing Dock warships also shows Indonesia’s vital position and role in regional stability.

On this occasion, Toribio D Adaci as Flag Officer in Command Philippines Navy said that “The first two landing docks built and completed by PT PAL Indonesia for our navy in 2016 and 2017, prove the exceptional quality and functionality of products and services. This ship has proven its value in various military and non-military operations, demonstrating the important role of our navy. As well as playing a very important role in our security and non-security operations in the Philippines,” said Toribio D Adaci.
Toribio D Adaci reiterated “The purchase of two landing docks this time will greatly assist our nation in carrying out security safeguards, not only in the western Philippine Sea but also throughout the archipelago. Apart from that, it is also to assist the implementation of our humanitarian assistance in disaster management, “he concluded.
