Turkish Navy’s AY-class (Type 209/1200) submarine, TCG BATIRAY (S-349), was the first guest of the new floating dock in Golcuk Naval Shipyard.

The acceptance tests of the dock were completed in June 2023. Approximately 3 months after the acceptance, the first submarine is docked at the floating dock.

“The 3000-ton submarine dock, produced by our Affiliate Company ASFAT and unique in the world with its features, successfully docked the TCG BATIRAY submarine at our Gölcük Naval Command.” – Turkish MoD on Twitter.

ASFAT, a defense contractor affiliated with the Turkish Defence Ministry, is the prime contractor of the project.

According to ASFAT, the new floating dock is the only one of its size in the world that can be fully enclosed with roof and door systems. It has a lifting capacity of 3000 tons for the current and future submarines of the Turkish Navy. The dock was developed and built with local and national resources, from design to production. The dock has an automated sliding roof system that can be operated by the personnel inside the dock.
