Red Sea Royal Navy Destroyer Repels Another Drone Attack

The UK Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyer HMS Diamond repelled yet another drone attack in the Red Sea, the UK MoD announced on Sunday.

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced today on social media X (formerly known as Twitter) that the incindent took place yesterday (Saturday) with the drone directly targeting HMS Diamond. The statement reads:

“Yesterday HMS Diamond successfully repelled a drone attack from the Iranian-backed Houthis in the Red Sea.
Deploying her Sea Viper missile system, Diamond destroyed a drone targeting her, with no injuries or damaged sustained to Diamond or her crew.
These intolerable and illegal attacks are completely unacceptable and it is our duty to protect the freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.
We want to thank the brave crew of HMS Diamond for their service to defend British and international interests”.

The engagement came as French, US and Indian naval vessels assisted a tanker which caught on fire after being hit by a ballistic missile.
