The company displayed mockups of three variants of the Kuzgun anti-ship missile alongside an infographic depicting launchers fitted onto the Malaysian Navy’s Laksamana-class corvette and Perdana-class missile boat. These launchers feature 5 cells and are situated at the rear of both ships.
According to representatives at the exhibition, the company is in touch with the missile developer, TUBITAK SAGE. They mentioned plans to invite Royal Malaysian Navy officials to Türkiye to witness a live firing demonstration of the missile in the coming months.
It’s understood by Naval News that such proposals are periodically presented to the Royal Malaysian Navy, but they undergo careful evaluation by decision-makers before potentially becoming projects. While Kuzgun is being considered by officials, no final decision has been made as of now.
The launcher showcased in the drawing at the Dayatech booth differs slightly from the one in Türkiye. The missile has recently been launched from the MARLIN unmanned surface vehicle, which utilizes a launcher with 10 cells. However, since these drawings are preliminary, they can be adjusted based on requirements if the proposal is accepted.
About Kuzgun-KY anti-ship missile
The Kuzgun precision-guided munition is a new-generation product family in the 100-kg class that meets tactical guided munition requirements, is modular in propulsion and methods of navigation or warhead control, has low cost, is reusable, has high hit accuracy and low lateral damage.
These munitions series offers a variety of warheads (splitter, thermobar, general-purpose, and penetrator), guidance methods (INS /GPS or INS only ), and seekers (imaging infrared – IIR, millimeter-wave radar or laser).
As part of the project, TUBİTAK- SAGE is developing three different missiles in solid-fuel (KY), turbojet engine (TJ), and free-fall (SS) configurations. The KY variant is expected to be fitted to USVs, while other variants would be used by the air assets including fighter jets and UCAVs.
