In this interview, Ahmet Akyol, CEO of Aselsan, explains Aselsan’s naval solutions they exhibit in Paris.
The new 20-missiles configuration of the GÖKSUR, namely GÖKSUR 100-N, features GÖKSUR IIR missile. It is an IIR-guided missile developed for air-to-air combat and now adapted for naval defense. GÖKSUR 100-N has 360 degrees target destruction capability, short deployment time at adverse sea conditions and multi-threat environment with its fast movement turret stabilization capability.
It also has high effectiveness and capability of simultaneous multiple engagement with advanced fire control system with AI features and mid-course guidance capability against modern anti-ship threats. With its enhanced missile capacity, the new version offers greater operational flexibility and improves the vessel’s situational awareness.
Different configurations of GÖKSUR PDMS, GÖKSUR 100-N VLS (flexible and modular Vertical Launcher System) and GÖKSUR 100-N/StA (turret with the ability to operate stand-alone) are also available, providing users with modular air and missile defense solutions.
ASELSAN also showcased GÖKDENİZ Close-in Weapon System, and DÜFAS Low-Frequency Active Sonar System at the show.
GÖKDENİZ 100/35 CIWS along with 35 mm Airburst Ammunition (ATOM) developed by ASELSAN is a close-in weapon system (CIWS) effective against anti-ship missiles. can fire up to 1100 rounds a minute up to an effective range of 4 km.
DÜFAS is equipped with the most up-to-date technology and is a depth-variable towed active/passive sonar system used primarily for the detection of silent underwater threats, including submarines, from very long distances for surface platforms. The system enables the detection and tracking of targets at long ranges. By also utilizing the continuous active sonar feature, it provides the capability for high-accuracy detection over wide areas.
In passive sonar mode, the system listens to environmental noises for the detection of threats such as torpedoes. Unlike its counterparts, DÜFAS suggests the most appropriate countermeasure tactics and ship evasion maneuvers to neutralize torpedoes launched by enemy platforms to the user. Thus, in addition to its active sonar capability, the system becomes a torpedo countermeasure system, offering a comprehensive solution.
