Lithuanian Ministry of Defence press release – Translated by Naval News
This contract represents the second phase following the technical agreement signed in 2024 between Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland, marking the next step in the research and development project for fast multi-role attack boats, which are intended to enhance regional defence capabilities.
Under this contract, Lithuania will acquire two advanced fast multi-role attack boats, each equipped with the SPIKE NLOS missile system and a remotely operated heavy machine gun.
“These new multi-purpose attack boats will greatly strengthen our Naval Forces, allowing for quicker and more effective responses to security threats in our region’s waters. Furthermore, this contract is a prime example of how small nations, by working together, can build a stronger, more capable defense and ensure stability and security across the entire Baltic region.”
Dovilė Šakalienė, Minister of National Defense
These boats will play a key role in countering threats from the Gulf of Finland to the Curonian Lagoon. Thanks to their specialized design and advanced propulsion system, they will be capable of operating in extremely shallow waters, enabling rapid response to a wide range of threats both at sea and along the coastline.
The acquired boats are destined for the Lithuanian Navy. Their procurement will also support the development of local industries through industrial cooperation in both Lithuania and Latvia, while establishing long-term supply chains to sustain future needs.
