On November 17, 2025, Canada’s Minister of International Trade welcomed the signature of the Canadian Commercial Corporation’s (CCC) government-to-government (G2G) contract with Germany’s Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support to equip the German Navy with Lockheed Martin Canada’s combat management system CMS 330.

The agreement, projected to exceed a value of $1 billion, reinforces defence procurement cooperation between Canada and Germany. The CMS 330 was originally developed by Lockheed Martin Canada for the Royal Canadian Navy’s Halifax-class frigates. The system integrates shipboard sensors, weapons and communications to provide real-time situational awareness. It supports a wide range of missions, including air, surface and subsurface warfare. Through their common use of the CMS 330, German and Canadian navies will achieve an enhanced level of collaboration that will strengthen the security of both countries.

Germany, the largest economy in the EU and the third-largest in the world, is a key economic partner for Canada. In 2024, two-way merchandise trade totaled $30.5 billion, making Germany Canada’s sixth-largest merchandise trading partner and the largest among EU member states. This marks an increase of 41% since pre-Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement levels. In July 2024, Canada, Germany and Norway signed a trilateral partnership centring on maritime security cooperation in the North Atlantic. At the June 2025 NATO Summit in The Hague, Netherlands, Denmark joined the partnership.

Lockheed Martin Canada’s combat management system CMS 330 will go on the future F127 frigates of the German Navy. It will also likely upgrade the in-service F125 frigates.
CMS 330 is (or will be) deployed aboard Royal Canadian Navy Canadian Surface Combatant, Halifax Class, Arctic Offshore Patrol vessels, Joint Support Ships, Canadian Coast Guard Patrol Vessels, and Chilean and New Zealand frigates. A variant of CMS 330, Canadian Tactical Interface (CTI), is being fitted with Lockheed Martin’s Aegis system on the new CSC ships to provide multi-axis combat capability combined with the strategic air defense provided by Aegis.
Meanwhile, the German Navy is set to use a wide range of CMS across its fleet: Thales Tacticos (F126 and K130), Saab 9LV (F123 upgrade), Atlas Elektronik ANCS (F125)… and now Lockheed Martin CMS 330.
