Rohde & Schwarz has signed a contract with Spanish shipbuilder Navantia to equip five new F-110 frigates with external communications systems.

MQ-9B SeaGuardian maritime tests flights concluded off the coast of California on September 11th. They can probably be seen as the next step toward a worldwide export success. Indeed, if the first variant of the MQ-9 Predator-B mainly served as an ISR platform for above ground missions, the new MQ-9B SkyGuardian/SeaGuardian is likely to find much more customers in its maritime variant.

The technical launch of the first-in-class patrol vessel (OPV – Offshore Patrol Vessel) “Musherib”, ordered to Fincantieri by the Qatari Ministry of Defence within the national naval acquisition program, took place today at the Muggiano (La Spezia) yard.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA‑ASI) concluded a set of maritime test flights over the sea-lanes off the coast of Southern California on September 11th, using the MQ-9B SeaGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS). This was the first MQ-9B configured for surveillance operations over open-water, and served to demonstrate MQ-9B capabilities in the maritime environment.

iXblue was selected by Naval Group to provide navigation systems to the four future tankers for the French Navy. Phins navigation systems and Netans navigation data distribution & computation systems will thus equip the future logistics support vessels, as part of the “Logistics Fleet” program (Flotte Logistique (FLOTLOG)) led by the European Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation (Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en matière d’ARmement (OCCAR)) on behalf of the French Defense Procurement Agency DGA, and its Italian counterpart, NAVARM.

A steel cutting ceremony took place on July 28 at German Naval Yards Kiel for the third K130 Batch 2 Corvette for the Germany Navy. The ceremony was low key because of the current health crisis.

Navantia hosted the keel laying ceremony for the third Avante 22000 corvette for the Royal Saudi Navy. The event took place on 6 August 2020 at the Spanish shipbuilder’ San Fernando shipyard.

“Al Jubail”, the first of five AVANTE 2200 corvettes built for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF), was launched today by Spanish shipbuilder Navantia.
