Work is now underway to add a new vertical launch silo to the first Royal Navy Type 45 air defence destroyer to receive the MBDA CAMM.
The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence announced that the Royal Navy Daring-class (Type 45) destroyers will receive a ballistic missile defence (BMD) upgrade.
Royal Navy Type 45 air defence destroyers are to be equipped with the MBDA Common Anti-air Missile (CAMM) as part of an evolution of the ships’ Sea Viper anti-air guided weapon system.
MBDA has been awarded a number of contracts to significantly upgrade the air and missile defence capabilities of the Royal Navy’s six Type 45 destroyers.
