Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division delivered amphibious assault ship Tripoli (LHA 7) to the U.S. Navy. Tripoli will be commissioned later this year before sailing to its homeport of San Diego, California.

When more than a dozen F-35B Lightning IIs thundered across the skies of the Eastern Pacific and touched down on the USS America on Oct. 8, 2019, it signaled the birth of the most lethal, aviation-capable amphibious assault ship to date.

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced the successful completion of builder’s trials on the amphibious assault ship Tripoli (LHA 7).

The keel of the America-class amphibious warship Bougainville (LHA 8) was authenticated during a ceremony at Ingalls Shipbuilding on Thursday, March 14.
