The keel of the first Squadron 2020 multi-role corvette for the Finnish Navy was laid today at Rauma shipyard in Rauma, Finland.

Finland has finally cut steel on the first on the first of four new corvettes for it's Navy after multiple delays.

On Tuesday, 15 August, a composite cutting ceremony was held at Saab site in Karlskrona for the first of four masts for the Finnish Navy's new ships.

The Finnish Navy this week released an update on the status of their Pohjanmaa-class corvette program, also known as Squadron 2020. The program has suffered moderate delays, with a lack of skilled workers having pushed the dates for finalising the design and moving on to the build-phase.
