Elbit Systems Ltd. announced today the successful integration of the Towed Reelable Active Passive Sonar (TRAPS) for Unmanned Surface Vessels (TRAPS-USV) onboard the Company’s Seagull USV. Leonardo’s ULISSES system was used to automatically locate a number of simulated submarines in a live trials exercise. Ultra Electronics provides the software capability for the ULISSES system to provide accurate target location from up to 64 sonobuoys and/or dipping sonars. The successful trials mean that development is on-track to finish this year, with production starting in 2020.

SEA has successfully completed sea trials of its innovative Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) System with the Portuguese Navy as part of Exercise REPMUS (Maritime Unmanned Systems) 19. The KraitSense™ low-profile passive sonar system detected, tracked and classified a submarine whilst deployed from a Portuguese Navy offshore patrol vessel (OPV).
