Last week, the U.S. Navy Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) USS Maryland conducted a full at-sea crew exchange to prevent sailors from possible COVID-19 exposure. At-sea crew transfer is quite unusual. Transfer of the entire crew of a submarine is even more exceptional.

The French Ministry of Armed Forces announced that the French Navy (Marine Nationale) Le Triomphant-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) "Le Téméraire" successfully test launched an M51 submarine launched ballistic missile (SLBM) in operational conditions on June 12.

Russia's Sevmash Shipyard has officially handed over the first Borei-A-class submarine to the Russian Navy. The acceptance act for the 'Knyaz Vladimir', the first Project 955A SSBN was signed in Severodvinsk, the Defense Ministry said.

The Project 955A Borei-A class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine Knyaz Vladimir (NATO reporting name: Dolgorukiy-class) has completed its sea trials and arrived in Severodvinsk in north Russia, the Defense Ministry’s press office said.

The Knyaz Vladimir Borei A-class nuclear submarine of project 955A began underwater trials in the White Sea before the handover to the Northern fleet, the Defense Ministry said.
