Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) launched the first of two Triput class frigates for the Indian Navy, named Triput, on July 23, 2024.
The 7th Indian Navy Frigate of P1135.6 class was launched on 28 Oct 2021 at Yantar Shipyard, Kaliningrad, Russia in presence of Shri D Bala Venkatesh Varma, Ambassador of India (Moscow) and senior dignitaries of the Russian Federation and officials of the Indian Navy.
July 19th – The Indian Navy announced the completion of exercises with the French Navy’s FREMM Aquitaine and the INS Tabar frigate.
India will receive two Project 1135.6 frigates currently under construction at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad in west Russia by the end of the first half of 2024, the press office of Russia’s Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation told TASS.
In line with the US$1 billion deal signed in October 2016 with Russia, the Indian government signed a contract for the construction of two Project 1135.6 frigates with M/s Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) with scheduled delivery in June 2026 and December 2026 respectively.
