The U.S. Department of Defense on 30 September 2021 announced that NAVSEA awarded SAFE Boats International LLC a US$ 84 million contract modification for the delivery of six Mk VI patrol boats, with an option for two more.

The commander of the Ukrainian naval forces confirmed the procurement of Ada-class corvettes and Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Talking to a local media, Rear Admiral Alexei Neizhpapa also discussed Mk VI and Island-class patrol boats from the United States and "missile boats" from the United Kingdom.
