Bollinger Shipyards LLC (“Bollinger”) on April 2 delivered the USCGC HAROLD MILLER to the U.S. Coast Guard in Key West, Florida. This is the 161st vessel Bollinger has delivered to the U.S. Coast Guard over a 35 year period and the 38th Fast Response Cutter delivered on the current program. The USCGC HAROLD MILLER is the third of three FRCs to be home-ported in Galveston, Texas.
Japan’s largest Super Puma operator, Japan Coast Guard (JCG), has placed a new order of two H225 helicopters. This follow-on order brings JCG’s Super Puma fleet to 15, comprising two AS332s and 13 H225s.

Kennedy (CVN-79) with a repurposed AN/USQ-167 Common Data Link System (CDLS) that was salvaged from the decommissioned USS Enterprise (CVN-65).

The U.S. Navy commissioned USS Delaware (SSN 791), the 18th Virginia-class attack submarine on April 4, 2020. It is the final Block III Virginia-class submarine, before the next wave of Block IV deliveries.

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII)’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division received a $1.5 billion contract award on 3 April to design and build LPD 31. This will be the 15th in the San Antonio-class ship and the second of the “LPD 17 Flight II”. The contract award was moved up some weeks to provide funds to suppliers.

Japan Self-Defense Forces plan to deploy a Hypervelocity Gliding Projectile, or HVGP, in fiscal year 2026 as a new weapon to deter enemies trying to invade Japan’s remote islands. The HVGP (速滑空弾) could eventually have an anti-ship capability and be used against aircraft carriers.

Yesterday the U.S. Navy announced that it removed the captain of the USS Theodore Roosevelt after he raised the alarm over concern for the sailors on his ship, which is in the midst of COVID-19 outbreak.

The Royal Air Force has formally declared an Initial Operating Capability (IOC) of its brand-new Poseidon MRA Mk1 Maritime Patrol Aircraft.
