At Euronaval 2026, Lacroix unveils ARTISSOUM IN, a new range of advanced submarine decoy and signalling devices now compatible with internal launch systems.

Lacroix press release

French countermeasures specialist Lacroix has introduced its latest submarine signalling and decoy solution, ARTISSOUM IN, at Euronaval 2026. The new system expands the company’s established pyrotechnic portfolio, making its advanced countermeasures compatible with submarines equipped with internal launch systems, such as those built by TKMS and Daewoo.

The ARTISSOUM family of devices provides crucial acoustic and visual countermeasures for submerged vessels. The range includes signalling devices used for surface identification, simulated attack communication, and distress signalling via red star rockets. Additionally, the portfolio features anti-sonar decoy bombs designed to generate false sonar echoes, effectively disrupting detection attempts by surface ships, hostile submarines, helicopters, and incoming torpedoes.

Building on technology originally developed by French arsenals, Lacroix has managed and refined these highly technical pyrotechnics for over two decades. Following developmental work on behalf of the French defense procurement agency (DGA), Lacroix recently overhauled the ARTISSOUM line to optimize deployment at greater depths. These upgrades also introduced a rigorous double safety system for the launch and pyrotechnic initiation phases, alongside a dedicated safety cap for onshore handling and loading.

Previously, these optimized bomblets were restricted to platforms with external launch systems, such as Naval Group and Navantia submarines. The debut of the ARTISSOUM IN variant at Euronaval 2026 bridges this gap, allowing navies operating submarines with internal launch configurations to leverage Lacroix’s enhanced depth performance and modernized safety standards.
