Russia to hold about 10 more test launches of Tsirkon hypersonic missile

Russia will perform about 10 more launches of the advanced Tsirkon hypersonic missile during its state trials, a source in Russiaโ€™s defense industry told TASS.

The source told TASS:

โ€œBefore the state trials are completed, about 10 more launches ofย the hypersonic missile are planned toย beย conducted from two carriers,โ€

According to the source, the launches will take place in 2020-2021.

โ€œApproximately seven orย eight launches against ground and seaborne targets are planned toย beย performed from the Admiral Gorshkov frigate. Two orย three launches will beย conducted from the Severodvinsk submarine and atย least one ofย them will beย made from the underwater position,โ€ the source said.

The NPO Mashinostroeniya Enterprise, a subsidiary of the Tactical Missiles Corporation, did not comment on the information provided by the source.

According toย media outlets, the NPO Mashinostroeniya Enterprise isย the developer ofย the Tsirkon missile.
