The Bastions systems are stationed on the island of Alexandra Land (a large island located in Franz Josef Land, a Russian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean).

Part of the tests consisted in the crews deploying promptly, moving to the area of deployment and taking positions on the coast of the Barents Sea. They then conducted simulated engagement of surface targets with their anti-ship missiles.

During the control check-up under the command of the Head of the Northern Fleet Coastal Troops Division, focus was put on the ability of the personnel to bring the systems to an operational level.

The Bastion coastal missile systems and their P-800 Oniks supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles are in service with the Arctic units of the Northern Fleet. They are deployed on the islands of Alexandra Land and Kotelny.
