Egyptian Navy ships arrive in Russia’s Novorossiysk to take part in joint drills

A detachment of Egyptian Navy ships has called at the Russian port of Novorossiysk for the first time to take part in the joint exercise Bridge of Friendship 2020.

“The detachment comprises the Alexandria frigate, the El Fateh corvette and the M. Fahmy missile boat. Chief of the Egyptian Navy’s operations department Rear Admiral Mahmoud Adel Mahmoud Faizi was appointed exercise director from the Egyptian side and delegation head,”

After the mooring of the Egyptian and Russian ships, the captains within the exercise’s command group paid an official visit to Commander of the Novorossiysk naval base Rear Admiral Viktor Kochemazov.

The Russian-Egyptian exercise Bridge of Friendship 2020 started on November 17 and will last through November 24. It is taking place in Novorossiysk and at Black Sea Fleet training ranges. The exercise will have the onshore and offshore phases, which will be held in the Black Sea for the first time.
