Russian Hydrographic Vessel To Conduct Survey In Arctic

The Romuald Muklevich hydrographic vessel has gone to the Barents Sea to take part in the final stage of the expedition of the Northern Fleet and the Russian Geographical Society.

โ€œThe vesselโ€™s expedition toย the Arctic will last through early September. The seamen will operate inย Arctic seas for 1.5 months without replenishing supplies. Itย will beย the first maximum-endurance voyage ofย the Romuald Muklevich after its repair and upgrade. The vesselโ€™s endurance isย 45 days. Earlier, the vessel went toย the Barents Sea toย carry out hydrologic survey, which lasted less than two weeks.โ€

Aย joint group comprising specialists ofย the hydrographic service and search-and-rescue team with remote-controlled underwater equipment was formed.

They will survey aย number ofย port localities ofย the Northern Sea Route. The hydrographers will carry out ocean survey off Novaya Zemlya archipelago inย Belushya Bay and the Yugorsky Strait.
