During the maneuvers, the Russian Navy was represented by the Project 1155 large antisubmarine warfare ship Admiral Panteleyev (NATO reporting name: Udaloy), the Project 20380 corvettes Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and Gromky (Steregushchy-class), two harbor minesweepers, the Project 877 submarine Ust-Bolsheretsk (Kilo-class), a missile boat, and a rescue tug.
The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) participating in the exercise included Type 055 destroyer Nanchang, Type 052D destroyer Kunming, the corvettes Type 056 corvettes Qinzhou and Luzhou, a diesel submarine, a supply ship, and a rescue vessel. A group of the Chinese warships arrived at the anchorage site in the Peter the Great Gulf the day before, the press office said.
12 planes and helicopters of the Pacific Fleet’s air arm and the Chinese Navy were also involved in the maneuvers.
During the joint maneuvers, the crews of the warships from both countries practiced joint tactical maneuvering, mine countermeasures, artillery live-firing against seaborne targets. They also searched for and blocked a simulated enemy’s submarine in the assigned area.
