As part of the bilateral cooperation between Italy and France, Italian Navy Naval Logistics Commander ADM Giuseppe Abbamonte met his French counterpart IGAHC Guillaume de Garidel-Thoron, on July 07, 2022 in Paris.

The encounter has happened on the occasion of the reunion anniversary of the Horizon Steering Committee, directive organ of the agreement of cooperation between the Italian Navy and French Navy for the in service support of the Horizon type destroyers (known as Andrea Doria-class in Italy and Forbin-class in France).

At the end of the meeting, the Logistics Commanders, as delegates of the respective Ministries of Defense, and Eng. Marco De Fazio, Managing Director of Leonardo Electronics Division – Defence Systems Business Unit, signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Italian Navy, French Navy and Leonardo.

According to the MoU, the parties undertake to continue the fruitful cooperation begun in 2015 for the maintenance of the 76/62mm naval gun systems fitted Horizon destroyers, FREMM frigates and future FDI frigates at the technical units of the Italian Navy in La Spezia (Marinarsen and CSSN).

The signature of the agreement is a confirmation of the recognition of the skills of Italian workers, in particular those of the Italian Navy, and the quality of their performance. The tenor of the meeting and the relevance of the signed agreement confirm the wide panorama of economic, social, commercial and more generally relational opportunities generated by military political cooperation and the inseparable friendship that binds the two nations.
