Austal Limited is pleased to announce that USNS Newport (EPF 12) has been delivered to the United States Navy from Austal USA’s state-of-the-art shipyard in Mobile, Alabama.

A small audience of dignitaries celebrated the christening of the future USS Savannah (LCS 28) on 29 August at Austal’s advanced ship manufacturing facility. Savannah is the 14th of 19 small surface combatants Austal USA has under contract with the U.S. Navy.

Austal USA and the U.S. Navy’s Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) program successfully completed integrated trials on the future USNS Newport (EPF 12), in the Gulf of Mexico. The ship is now ready to be delivered to the U.S. Navy.

The U.S. Navy accepted delivery of the future USS Oakland (LCS 24) June 26 during a ceremony at Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama. Oakland is the 22nd littoral combat ship (LCS) and the 12th ship of the Independence-class built by Austal USA.

Austal USA has been awarded a modification to previously awarded contract with a total potential value of $43,362,000 by the United States Department of Defense. This contract was modified to exercise the options for LCS Class design services, material to support LCS Class design services, and the Integrated Data Product Model Environment (IDPME).

The United States Department of Defense, in support of US Navy Shipbuilding Industrial Base, has announced a US$50 million Defense Production Act Title III Agreement (DPA Agreement) with Austal USA.

The future USS Oakland (LCS 24) successfully concluded acceptance trials here May 22, following a series of in-port and underway demonstrations in the Gulf of Mexico.
