The Russian Navy’s newest Borei A-class SSBN (Project 955A), “Generalissimus Suvorov”, has sailed out to the White Sea for the first time for factory trials.
The Knyaz Oleg (Borei-A-class) nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) of project 955A arrived to the Northern fleet naval base of the Russian Navy, Sevmash Shipyard said.
The Russian Navy commissioned three new submarines in the last quarter of 2021: One Borei-A class SSBN, one Yasen-M class SSGN and one improved Kilo-class SSK.
The “Generalissimo Suvorov” is the third Borei-A class (Project 955A) nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN). It left the slipway of Sevmash Shipyard on 25 December 2021 the enterprise said.
The Knyaz Oleg Borey-A-class SSBN of project 955A began its first test sortie on May 30, a defense industry source told TASS.

The first Borei-A-class ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) officially joined the Russian Navy today (June 12). JSC Sevmash Shipyard held a ceremony led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy – Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov.

Russia’s Sevmash Shipyard has officially handed over the first Borei-A-class submarine to the Russian Navy. The acceptance act for the ‘Knyaz Vladimir’, the first Project 955A SSBN was signed in Severodvinsk, the Defense Ministry said.
