The technical launch of the first-in-class patrol vessel (OPV – Offshore Patrol Vessel) โMusheribโ, ordered to Fincantieri by the Qatari Ministry of Defence within the national naval acquisition program, took place today at the Muggiano (La Spezia) yard.

Today, Naviris, the 50/50 owned joint venture by Fincantieri and Naval Group, has signed a contract with OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation) for a feasibility study on the mid-life upgrade (MLU) of the four Horizon type Air Defense Destroyers (designated frigates in the French and Italian navies).

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri is building for French shipyard Chantiers de lโAtlantique , the forward sections of the four “BRF” logistic support ships under the Franco-Italian LSS program led by OCCAR.

The First Steel Cutting ceremony for the Italian Navy’s Fifth Multipurpose Patrol Ship (PPA) took place on the 25th June at Riva Trigoso Shipyard (Genova). The steel cutting ceremony is a very meaningful milestone, as it marks the first tangible step of the building process and constitutes the virtual birth of a new ship.

Naviris, a 50/50 owned joint venture by Fincantieri and Naval Group, has signed its first contract regarding research and technology (R&T) with OCCAR, the European Joint Armaments Cooperation organisation. Naviris, as prime contractor, will coordinate technical activities managed by Fincantieri and Naval Group and will own the intellectual property of all the research findings.

The launching ceremony of the Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Ship (PPA) โFrancesco Morosiniโ took place today at Fincantieriโs Riva Trigoso Shipyard (Cantiere navale di Riva Trigoso), in the presence of the Chief of the Staff of the Italian Navy (Marina Militare) Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.

The “Luxor”, the fourth and final corvette of the El Fateh-class, Gowind 2500 type corvette, was launched at the Alexandria Shipyard on Thursday, May 14, 2020. It is the third corvette of this class built in Egypt.

Italian shipyard Fincantieri is set to launch the second Pattugliatore Polivalente dโAltura (PPA) vessel for the Italian Navy (Marina Militare) next month.

Fincantieri’s Marinette Marine Corporation was awarded a $795 mil US Navy contract for detail design & construction of the first ship at its Marinette shipyard in Wisconsin. Options for up to 10 ships could make the contract worth up to $5.6 billion. Fincantieri was competing with a frigate design based on the Italian Navy’s FREMM frigate.
