The Myanmar Navy held two ceremonies for the christening and the launching of the new FF-135 frigate named ‘UMS King Thalun’, and also for the commissionning of two new ASW corvettes in presence of senior Navy officials on December 25th. 2024.
Myanmar commissioned a former People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) Type 35B Ming-class submarine from China last week. The submarine, named “UMS Minye Kyaw Htin” joined the fleet during a ceremony on 24 December 2021 which also marked the 74th Anniversary of the Myanmar Navy.

The latest addition to the Myanmar Navy fleet, a Landing Platform Dock (LPD) named Moattama, made a port of call in Vladivostok, Russia according to a local media.
