Quebec-based shipbuilder Davie Shipyard welcomed on 11 August the Royal Canadian Navy Halifax-class frigate HMCS St. John for major refit and upgrade. The event marks the start of a long-term naval maintenance and upgrade program that will keep the Halifax-class frigates operational until the arrival of the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) in the 2040s.

The Vietnamese government signed an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on July 28 to finance a project to build six patrol vessels for the Vietnamese Coast Guard (VCG). The vessels, based on the Aso-class of the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) will be built in Japan.

At last! Photos and videos by Chinese ships potters show that China's first amphibious assault ship, a Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) known as Type 075 has finally started sea trials. The vessel set sails today at around 1:30PM local time departing its pier at the Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai.

The Amur Shipyard in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in Russia's Far East held a keel laying ceremony for the Project 22800 Karakurt-class corvette 'Pavlovsk' on 29 July. This is the 16th corvette of the Karakurt-class and it is intended for the Russian Pacific Fleet, the Defense Ministry’s press office said.
