Turkish defence company STM announced on June 26, 2022 that it has begun construction of the 500-tonne “STM500” submarine.
At IDEF 2021, Turkish company STM unveiled the STM500 and TS17000 submarine designs while Dearsan unveiled a “light submarine” design.
Aselsan will provide its Zargana torpedo countermeasures system for the Pakistan Navy’s Agosta 90B submarine mid-life upgrade program, the Turkish company stated on May 29.
The Turkish Navy (Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri) Preveze-class submarine Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) contract was signed between Turkey’s Defence Industry Directorate (SSB) and a joint venture formed by STM-ASELSAN-HAVELSAN-ASFAT on 8 Ferbuary 2019.
