On April 9, 2020, “S43”, the third of four HDW Class 209/1400mod submarines was officially handed over by thyssenkrupp Marine Systems to the Navy of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
An Israeli Navy (Ḥeil HaYam HaYisraeli) new SA’AR-6 class corvette, likely first ship in class INS Magen, started her initial sea trials on March 10, 2020. Several ship spotters images from the Kiel area in Germany show the vessel underway under her own power.
On March 5th, in Rio de Janeiro, Emgepron, an independent state company, linked to the Ministry of Defense through the Brazilian Navy Command, and Águas Azuis, a company created by thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, Embraer Defense & Security and Atech, signed the contract for building four state-of-the-art Tamandaré Class Ships, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2028.
thyssenkrupp Marine Systems plans to use 3D printers increasingly in manufacturing submarine parts. This offers decisive advantages over conventionally produced components. The corresponding quality and safety approvals have already been granted.
The Dutch Ministry of Defense today issued the B-Letter for the Walrus-class submarine replacement program confirming its intent to procure 4 new submarines and shortlisting three shipbuilders for this procurement process: Naval Group, Saab and TKMS.

On May 23, 2019, the first SA’AR-6 class corvette was named INS Magen at a ceremony in Kiel. This marks another important milestone in the ongoing program of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) as General Contractor to build four next-generation missile corvettes for the Israeli Navy.
