According to the press release, the frigate was located in the White Sea and the missile hit a surface target located in the Barents Sea.

A new test launch of the hypersonic Tsirkon missile will be held by the Admiral Gorshkov frigate of project 22350 in September. Salvo fire is planned, two defense industry sources told TASS at Army-2020 forum.

Work to develop and produce the latest naval weapon systems, such as the underwater unmanned Poseidon craft and hypersonic Tsirkon missile is successfully nearing completion, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Russian frigates of project 22350 will be upgraded. The Admiral Gorshkov is the first warship to get upgraded radars and electronic warfare systems.

Russia will perform about 10 more launches of the advanced Tsirkon hypersonic missile during its state trials, a source in Russia’s defense industry told TASS.
