A USAF B-52 Stratofortress bomber participated in a maritime integration exercise with the USS Nimitz and USS Ronald Reagan carrier strike groups in the South China Sea.

Australia’s 2020 Defense Strategic Update and 2020 Force Structure Plan, released on 1 July 2020 by the Department of Defense (DoD), outline a new strategy for Defense and the capability investments to deliver it.
The US Navy awarded Huntington Ingalls Industries a $936 million contract for construction of the future USS Thad Cochrane (DDG 135). This will be the 10th Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyer and the 85th DDG 51 ship overall. It will be built at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula and is planned to be delivered in 2027.
