MQ-9B SeaGuardian Demonstrates Maritime Capabilities Over Southern California Waters

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA‑ASI) concluded a set of maritime test flights over the sea-lanes off the coast of Southern California on September 11th, using the MQ-9B SeaGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS). This was the first MQ-9B configured for surveillance operations over open-water, and served to demonstrate MQ-9B capabilities in the maritime environment.

Atlas Elekronik UK (AEUK) has met a significant contract milestone, having successfully delivered the first 15m SEA Class workboat. The boat, officially named Royal Navy Motorboat, RNMB HEBE, is supplied with a work module complete with dedicated operator workstations for use when conducting survey operations.

French Navy’s First FREMM DA ‘Alsace’ to Start Sea Trials in Early October

The FREMM frigate “Alsace” is set to begin its initial sea trials in early October, Naval News learned from Naval Group, the shipbuilder. It is the first of two air-defence frigates known as FREMM DA (Frégate Européenne Multimissions de Défense Aérienne) for the French Navy (Marine Nationale).

Safran’s new-generation Euroflir 410 EO/IR system chosen for French Navy’s H160 helicopters

Babcock France, an engineering firm that provides support services for government strategic forces, has selected the new-generation Euroflir™410 optronic (electro-optical) system from Safran Electronics & Defense as part of the contract awarded by French defense procurement agency DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement) to provide four H160 helicopters to the French Navy for a period of ten years.

Royal New Zealand Navy’s Te Kaha Frigate Starts Post-Upgrade Sea Trials

The Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN)’s frigate HMNZS Te Kaha started sea trials in Canada following a mid life upgrade. It is the first of two Anzac-class frigates set to receive the Frigate Systems Upgrade (FSU) at Seaspan shipyards with Lockheed Martin Canada acting as prime contractor.
