EXAVISION press release

EURONAVAL, the leading event in naval defence and maritime safety and security is being be held in Paris Le Bourget from 18 to 21 October 2022. This major event has been chosen by EXAVISION to introduce SEAMOS-MR-5K, a new multi-sensor optronic solution for medium-range observation and surveillance on maritime vehicles.

SEAMOS-MR-5K is developed by EXAVISION, an Equans company specialized in medium-range naval optronic solutions. The SEASENS software, along with classification algorithms, enhances the product offering by identifying and tracking a potential threat. It meets the needs of shipyards and end customers who want to use robust, high-performance solutions with optimized cost of ownership.

SEAMOS-MR-5K offers a naval optronic unit integrated on a 2-axis gyrostabilized turret, including:

  • 3 daylight cameras,
  • An uncooled thermal camera (LWIR, band III) manufactured in France,
  • An eye-safe laser rangefinder.

The combination of daylight and infrared channels helps recognize a NATO target (2.3m x 2.3m) at 5 km and identify it more than 2km away, day and night.

EXAVISION unveils SEAMOS-MR-5K for naval applications at EURONAVAL 2022
SEAMOS-MR-5K is a brand new compact and light weight naval pod integrated on a turret with three stabilized axis, comprising day sensors, an uncooled thermal sensor (Band III) and an eyesafe laser rangefinder.

SEAMOS-MR-5K is based on the following strengths:

  • Dual-axis gyrostabilised sighting line,
  • Automatic detection, classification and real-time tracking of aerial (UAV) and surface targets,
  • Video classification of surface vessels in accordance with AIS classes,
  • Maritime, civil and military applications,
  • High MTBF, no mandatory preventive maintenance requiring return of equipment, thanks to VGA and SXGA microbolometer imagers,
  • “Made in France”: a solution designed and manufactured in France, no export restrictions linked to a third country.

Like the whole NEMOSYS range, the SEAMOS-MR-5K solution is compatible with the SEASENS
software, allowing system monitoring/control, recording of video and detected events, simplified
integration with CMS and third-party equipment, such as radars, AIS systems, non-lethal acoustic
effectors.

“French optronic designer and manufacturer for 30 years, specialized in security and surveillance solutions in extreme conditions, EXAVISION is proud to present SEAMOS-MR-5K to meet the growing needs of our customers and partners. Asymmetric Threat Mitigation (ATM) and Anti-Drone Mitigation (ADM) applications, where EXAVISION is a recognized player, are the main areas where SEAMOS-MR-5K will provide an innovative solution to our end-customer’s problems.”

Marc Brun, Managing Director of EXAVISION
