On July 17, 2025, Turkiye’s Sefine Shipyard (affiliated to the Turkish TAIS shipyards consortium) held keel-laying ceremony for two KCR-70M fast attack craft (FAC) for the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL).

Indonesia’s Ambassador to Tรผrkiye, Mr. Achmad Rizal Purnama, was the first to announce the event, which took place at Sefine Shipyardโ€™s facilities in Yalova, a city located approximately 100 kilometers from Istanbul.

“These full combat mission vessels, built in collaboration with our Turkish partners, will join the Indonesian Navy fleet within the next year to strengthen our maritime defense and uphold national sovereignty.” the Ambassador said in his speech.

This event marks a milestone of the defense equipment procurement project based on the sale and purchase contract between the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and TAIS Shipyard. The construction of these two Full Combat Mission Fast Missile Boats (KCR) (NB74 & NB75) ceremonially started in Sefine Shipyard on October 30, 2024.

The KCR-70M is based on Sefine Shipyardโ€™s FACM-70 design, which is a 70-meter fast attack craft.

The primary missions of the FACM-70 include intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations, anti-surface warfare, and anti-air warfare. These vessels are also tasked with conducting patrol missions under challenging conditions, such as night operations and restricted visibility while maintaining high radar coverage.

Additionally, they support surface combatants during naval operations and engage in operations against asymmetric threats. In combat zones or nearby areas, they are also equipped to conduct Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, ensuring vital support in diverse mission scenarios.
