The Sevmash Shipyard is a subsidiary of Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).

“In 2020, we are to deliver four nuclear-powered submarines to the Navy, namely the Belgorod submarine, the Project 995A strategic missile-carrying submarine Knyaz Oleg, and two Project 885M multipurpose nuclear-powered submarines Kazan and Novosibirsk,”

Shipyard CEO Mikhail Budnichenko

In September, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko spoke about the ministry’s plans to receive these submarines in 2020.

A source in the Russian defense industry told TASS earlier that the Navy would receive six submarines at a time next year for the first time since 1992, including the four submarines mentioned by Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko and also two diesel-electric subs, namely the Project 636.3 submarine Volkhov and the first serial-produced Project 677 submarine Kronstadt.
