Ukraine Continues Development Testing of future R360 Anti-Ship Missile

Ukraine's LUCH design bureau and the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue the development test of the RK-360MTS mobile coastal defense system and its R-360 anti-ship missile. The most recent test took place in late November and evaluated the long range flight capabilities of the missile.

Launched from a land-based truck, the R-360 missile flew over a distance of more than 250 km for the first time, said Oleg Korostelev, general director and general designer of the Luch State Design Bureau. According to him, thus, “the development of the R-360 flight parameters has been completed.” At the next stage of the test, “we will test the combat characteristics of the R-360.”

During the flight test, which took place on November 28, the R-360 was accompanied by two Su-27UB fighters of the Ukrainian Air Force.

Thus, the recent test, like all previous launches of the R-360, was carried out with the missile missing its seeker and warhead and with the missile flight along a predetermined path, without pointing to a real target. Tests of a fully instrumented and live missile is yet to come.
