The contract also includes acceptance testing, training for operators and maintainers.

The RHIBs were delivered by NATO Support and Procurement Agency six months ahead of schedule, as delivery was originally scheduled in September 2020.

With the exception of training, which is on hold for now due to the current COVID19 outbreak, this concludes the first phase of a consolidated requirement to provide 24 RHIBs of various types for the Spanish Navy.

Contacted by Naval News, a Zodiac Milpro reprensentative explained that the two RHIBs are two ZH-638 and two ZH-738, both from the “Zodiac Hurricane” range. They feature inboard engines by Volvo Penta and HamiltonJet propulsion. They were produced at the Zodiac Milpro factory in Spain, which now has the capability to produce Hurricane type RHIBs (previously, only the plant in Canada had that capability).
