Qatar’s Coastal Defense System, Exocet and Marte ER by MBDA

Interviews with Captain (Sea) Al Nabit of the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces and Andrea Comite of MBDA regarding the Coastal Defense System protecting Qatar's coastline and territorial waters with the Exocet and Marte anti-ship missiles.

Naval News Staff 03 May 2022

Mr Comite also gives us the latest on the Marte ER including its integration aboard NH90 helicopters.

MBDA signed in 2016 a contract for the supply of a coastal defense system for the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces (QENF).

This innovative coastal missile system deploys two different munitions, Exocet MM40 Block 3 and Marte ER (the Extended Range version of the Marte missile), and it will be able to work in autonomous mode with its own radar, or alternatively by data-linking to a higher level within a wider coastal surveillance network. The supply of these coastal missile systems will allow the QENF to prevent hostile ships from reaching and threatening their territorial waters.
