Tomorrow, Wednesday 10 June 2020, the German Navy will put into service the second of a total of four F125 class frigates, the “Nordrhein-Westfalen”.

During the past few weeks, the German Navy (Deutsche Marine)’s F125 class Frigate “Baden-Württemberg” conducted sub-systems tests under extreme conditions and in realistic combat situations. She left for Brazil on February 7 to evaluate on-board systems in hot weather near the Equator. The first-of-class vessel returned on April 16.

On 3 March 2020, the frigate NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN was handed over by the ARGE F125
consortium to the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-
Service Support (BAAINBw).

After years of delay, the German Navy officially commissioned the first F125 frigate Baden-Württemberg on June 17, 2019.
