Spanish shipyard Navantia opened a new business office in Washington DC to support its ongoing bid for the U.S. Navy FFG(X) frigate competition.

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) announced that the multi-mission frigate (FREMM) Bretagne entered “active service” and is now able to conduct operational missions. “Bretagne” is the fifth of six anti-submarine warfare FREMM frigates ordered from Naval Group by the French Navy.

Italian defense company Leonardo is on board of the “Multi-Mission European Frigate” (FREMM) ITS Carlo Margottini currently moored at Abu Dhabi port on the occasion of IDEX 2019. The state of the art vessel departed from La Spezia in Italy on 17th January 2019.

Canada’s Combat Ship Team has been awarded the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) design contract by Irving Shipbuilding. Irving Shipbuilding is the Canadian Surface Combatant prime contractor and will build all 15 ships at Halifax Shipyard.

As part of the tender process for the introduction of the new Type 31e frigate generation, thyssenkrupp Marine Systems is one of the selected suppliers in the final design and offer phase in a consortium led by ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK including ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH and with British shipyards Harland & Wolff and Ferguson Marine Engineering. This was announced by the Royal Navy in London in December 2018.

Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri launched the 9th of 10 FREMM Frigate on order for the Italian Navy at its Riva Trigoso shipyard. The “Spartaco Schergat” is the fifth vessel in the general purpose configuration.

Spanish Minister of Defense confirmed that five new F-110 frigates will be built by Spanish shipbuilder Navantia in Ferrol starting in May this year.
