The Indonesian Ministry of Defence recently ordered a first prototype of the so called X18 « Tank Boat », which is being designed since 2011 by a consortium composed of PT Pindad, North Sea Boats (PT Lundin) and the Belgian turret maker John Cockerill (formerly known as CMI Group).

The ship, which became part of the 1st fleet of the Indonesian Navy (Koarmada I), has been configured as a hospital ship to carry out humanitarian missions, assist in natural disasters, and to provide medical assistance to people in remote areas.

The Aerospace company PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) on January 24 handed over five AS565Mbe Panther ASW helicopters and one CN235-220 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) to the Indonesian Navy.
