General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB) Friday delivered the nuclear-powered attack submarine Vermont (SSN 792) to the U.S. Navy. The future USS Vermont is the first of ten Block IV submarines.

The U.S. Navy commissioned USS Delaware (SSN 791), the 18th Virginia-class attack submarine on April 4, 2020. It is the final Block III Virginia-class submarine, before the next wave of Block IV deliveries.

The U.S. Navy yesterday awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a contract valued at $22.2 billion for the construction of 9 new Virginia-class submarines. The contract also includes the option of a tenth ship to be constructed within the contract time frame, bringing the total potential contract value to approximately $24.1 billion. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics.
